(Heer Wehrpaß). Constructed of field-grey card stock binding wit 52 paginated interior pages filled with handwritten and pasted entries, retaining a black-and-white photo of Hofacker, measuring 105 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Friedrich (Fritz) Hofacker was born on 29 November 1929 in Wüstenau, near Crailsheim, Württemberg. He entered active military service in 1940 with 3. Kompanie, Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 170, later transferring to Infanterie-Regiment 330. It was with the latter that Hofacker saw security and combat duty in the Balkans, before being shifted to the Eastern Front during Operation Barbarossa. He was promoted to Gefreiter on 1 July 1941, and received the Eastern Front Medal on 19 August 1942, in addition to a Black Grade Wound Badge for which an entry date is missing. Hofacker was killed in action on 10 September 1943 in Tulushka, Soviet Union (now Tulushka, near Konotop, Ukraine). According to the German War Graves Commission, Hofacker has no known gravesite.
