Yugoslavia, Kingdom. An Order of the Yugoslav Crown IV Class in Case.

(Jugoslovenska kruna IV reda) An Order of the Yugoslav Crown, IV Class, in silver gilt and enamels, the white-enamelled eight-pointed insignia with green-enamelled laurel wreaths between the arms, the obverse centre medallion bearing the crowned Royal Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the reverse centre medallion displaying the crowned royal monogram of King Alexander I above the date “1929”, suspended from its original dark blue triangular ribbon, measuring 43.0 mm x 64.6 mm inclusive of suspension device, accompanied by its original blue fitted case, the lid gilt-stamped “JUGOSLOVENSKA KRUNA IV”, the satin-lined interior maker marked “HUGUENIN FRÈRES & Co, Médailleurs, Le Locle (Suisse)” in French and Serbian Cyrillic, the case measuring 68.2 mm x 127.0 mm.

The order displays minor enamel damage to the white tips at the 1 o’clock and 4 o’clock positions on the obverse, with light overall wear to the gilt finish, while the ribbon and case remain well preserved; overall, in very fine condition.

Footnote: Instituted by King Alexander I on 5 April 1930, the Order of the Yugoslav Crown was created to recognize meritorious civil and military service to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Manufactured by distinguished firms including Huguenin Frères of Le Locle, Switzerland, the order was awarded in five classes to both Yugoslav and foreign recipients, and remained one of the kingdom’s principal decorations until the abolition of the monarchy during the Second World War.
