Description
(Orden Jugoslavenske Krune). Instituted in 1930. A silver gilt decoration, a four point cross with white enamel arms consisting of five rays with the middle presenting a ball finial, green enamel wreath segments in each quadrant, the obverse center medallion features a white enamel field with a superimposed red, green and blue enamelled crown, surrounded by a silver gilt ring, the reverse centre medallion presents the royal monogram “A” and the date “3-X-1929” (October 3 1929), the badge is suspended from a green enamel laurel wreath, measures 43.06mm (w) x 57.60mm (h – including laurel wreath), weighs 37.9 grams, worn on an original blue triangular ribbon, small enamel chips to tips of arms, dark patina, very fine condition. Contained in its original case of issue composed of wood and blue leatherette, the exterior lid is marked JUGOSLOVENSKA KUNA IV. the interior presents a silk lid stamped for HUGUENIN FRERES & Co. the dark blue velvet medalbed is not attached to bottom, measures 67.70mm (w) x 127.50mm (l) x 23.25mm (d), light wear to exterior, hinge and clasp in working order, better than fine condition.
Footnote: The Order of the Yugoslav Crown was founded by King Alexander I in 1930 to commemorate the unification of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia on October 3, 1929, when the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes was reduced to this new realm. The Order was conferred upon Yugoslavians and foreigners in recognition of meritorious civil and military service rendered to the King and Yugoslavia, for the country and the national unification. The Order was regulated under the influence of the Légion d'honneur; it was authorized with five classes on a single-colored ribbon. The Order was abolished along with the capitulation of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1941.
