(Ordo Equestris Sancti Sepulcri Hierosolymitani.) Instituted in 1099 (Modern, 1847). Type II. (1868 -). A lovely set featuring a grand cross badge in bronze gilt comprising a Jerusalem Cross in red enamels, reverse mirrors the obverse, surmounted by a trophy of arms suspension with plain reverse, measures 51.7mm (w) x 102.3mm (h – including suspension), worn on a full length black sash badge of the order, enamels intact, gilt wear on the trophy suspension, in extremely fine condition. The Star of the Order, in silver, an eight point star with clusters of five faceted rays, a red enamelled Jerusalem Cross is superimposed on the obverse, the reverse features a single vertical pin, unmarked, measures 86.5mm (w) x 86.1mm (h), weighs 85.9 grams, enamels intact, oxidation to tips of arms, in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by a small boutonniere in black, with a small grand cross breast star in silver with red enamel in the center, very fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, a red leatherette exterior with the Jerusalem Cross stamped on the center, the interior features a crème coloured silk interior, with partially recessed medalbed and storage for sash, measures 138mm (w) x 270mm (h) x 50mm (d), hinge and clasp functional, wear and discolouration to the exterior, in near very fine condition.
