Softcover, entitled "Vietnam Military Lore 1959-1973...Another Way To Remember, Volume I, by Master Sergeant Ray A. Bows, United States Army, Retired, edited by Stephen P. Bows, copyrighted by Bows & Sons Publishing of Hanover, Massachusetts in 1988, Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 88-071892, ISBN 0-929973-00-3. It begins with an Introduction by Shelby L. Stanton of Bethesda, Maryland, followed by a Table of Contents, a Preface, a Prologue, continuing with A Brief History and Named Installations and Facilities in Vietnam. This next two sections are entitled Awards and Decorations (dealing with those issued by the governments of the United States, Australia, the Philippines and the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam), with photographs of each), and Military Monies & Related Items of the Vietnam Conflict - An Illustrated Reference Guide (incorporating Military Payment Certificates, Token Listings Introduction, Token Location Listing, Token Unit Listing, Chit Location Listing, Chit Unit Listing and Chit Index). In addition, there is a List of Clubs and Mess Associations, a notation stating Token and Chits Erroneously Attributed, along with a series of Maps showing locations of I Corps in the Northern Provinces, II Corps in the Central Highlands, III Corps in the Capital Zone and the Surrounding Provinces and IV Corps in the Mekong Delta Region. Other sections include: Regimental and Unofficial Military Medals (Vietnam Issued Wooden Nickels, Medals of Vietnam Conflict Theme, United States Mint Commemorative Medals), Propaganda Leaflets (Allied and Communist) and Captured Enemy Documents. It concludes with an Acknowledgements, a Bibliography, a Request for Information, a five page Index and an Epilogue. The cover is in color, the front cover illustrating a fortification, while the back cover features a map of Vietnam with the insignia of the various United States units, using pointers to locate each on the map. It contains 720 pages, housing a wealth of information through the use of descriptive in-depth text, and is extensively illustrated with a plethora of photographs, printed in black ink on a white paper stock, perfect-bound, measuring 157 mm (w) x 227 mm (h) x 38 mm (d). The cover exhibits light wear overall, with some curling in the corners. This book is a valuable resource for members of the Air Force, the Army, the Marine Corps and the Navy who served during the conflict or for those that wish to learn more about the Vietnam War and the items, individuals and much, much more associated with it. Better than very fine.
