United States. Three Second War Period Awards (Legion of Merit, Air Medal, Soldier’s Medal).

A lot of three United States medals and awards, consisting of:

1. A Cased United States Legion of Merit, Legionnaire Grade. (Instituted July 20th, 1942). Constructed of gilded bronze, on a fixed loop and swivel ring for suspension from its multi-coloured ribbon with a functional horizontal pinback assembly, consisting of a five-armed Maltese Cross with red and white enameled arms, ball finals, and a green enameled laurel wreath between the arms of the cross, the center with a blue enameled disc bearing 13 white enameled stars arranged in the pattern that appears on the Great Seal of the United States, between the arms of the cross are crossed war arrows pointing outwards, the reverse in plain bronze, inscribed “United States of America” in capital letters on a banner, along with “Annuit Coeptis” with the date “MDCCLXXXII” (1783) within a central medallion, unmarked, measuring 47.3 mm (w) x 50.8 mm (l), weighing 39.08 grams including the ribbon, accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Legion of Merit Legionnaire” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in cream-coloured off-white silk, with a functional hinge assembly and intact hinge cover, with a felted medal bed with the addition of a horizontal pinback medal bar and red and white enameled boutonniere, measuring 90 mm (w) x 168 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.

2. A Cased United States Air Medal. (Instituted May 11th, 1942). Constructed of bronze, on a fixed fleur-de-lis and swivel ring for suspension from its multi-coloured ribbon with a functional horizontal pinback assembly, consisting of a compass rose with a central eagle volant carrying two lightning bolts in its talons, the reverse plain, unmarked, measuring 42.0 mm (w) x 53.8 mm (l), weighing 36.17 grams including the ribbon, accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Air Medal” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in cream-coloured off-white silk, with a functional hinge assembly and intact hinge cover, with a felted medal bed with the addition of a horizontal pinback medal bar and blue and orange enameled boutonniere, measuring 90 mm (w) x 168 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.

3. A Cased United States Soldier’s Medal. (July 2nd, 1926). Constructed of bronze in an octagonal shape, on a pierced extension and rectangular swivel ring for suspension from its multi-coloured ribbon with a functional horizontal pinback assembly, consisting of a large eagle with open wings standing on a fasces, between two groups of stars of six and seven, the reverse with a shield paly of 13 pieces, on the chief of the letters “US”, supported by sprays of laurel and oak, around the upper edge the inscription “Soldier’s Medal” and across the face the words “For Valor”, measuring 35.3 mm (w) x 39.6 mm (l), weighing 28.25 grams including its ribbon, accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Soldier’s Medal” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in cream-coloured off-white silk, with a functional hinge assembly and intact hinge cover, with a felted medal bed with the addition of a horizontal pinback medal bar and a multi-coloured enameled boutonniere, measuring 90 mm (w) x 168 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
