In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
A well-preserved US M3 fighting knife, measuring 315 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 170 mm-long fullered magnetic metal blade with a sharpened tip and sharpened lower edge. The blade presents plain with the exception of a reverse mark of “US M3-UTICA”, indicating manufacture by New York-based Utica Cutlery. The blade sits securely within a magnetic metal upper crossguard, which is curved along the top. A single piece of ribbed dark brown wood composes the handle grip, while the knife completes with a flattened magnetic metal pommel. It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of an olive-drab painted fibreglass shaft. A magnetic metal fixture is secured to the shaft and retains a functional spring catch, holding the knife in place during storage. An etched mark of “US M8” is set into the obverse of the throat fixture, indicating a later-issue scabbard. Riveted to the throat is an olive-drab canvas loop, modified for belt suspension. Issues consistent with age and use are evident, and include some oxidation and running marks to the blade and metal features, wear to the wooden handle, and slight loss of paint to the scabbard. This field-used and complete example is in an overall very fine condition.
Footnote: One of the most prolific manufacturers of the M3 fighting knife during its time of service, Utica Cutlery produced approximately 656,520 between 1943 and 1944.
