Description
Description
This jacket is fabricated from a fine army green wool, button down epaulette straps on both shoulders, each of which is secured in place by a large brown plastic button at the neck end, with a Lieutenant Colonel rank insignia pinned in place on both straps. There is a China-Burma-India Theater of Operations patch sewn in place on the left shoulder, in silvered bullion wire, in various textures, with red, cobalt blue and midnight blue embroidery, while the right shoulder has a 14th Air Force "Flying Tigers" patch in rolled silvered and gold-colored bullion wire with red and black embroidery, on a midnight blue wool base sewn in place. The front has two pockets, one on each breast which have decorative straps giving them a pleated-look with brown plastic buttons at the top, each pocket with a fold over flap and when lifted up, exposes a reinforced buttonhole on a tab, so when the buttons are fastened, they remain invisible to the eye, covered by the flaps. Each of the collars are adorned with a U.S. Collar Badge and Army Air Corps Collar Badge, each of which is secured in place by dual push pins. The front is completed by a vertical row of four large brown plastic buttons on the right side, facing an equal number of reinforced button holes on the left side. Both cuffs are of the button down variety, each of which has two brown plastic buttons. The waistline at the front has a short strap on the left side, the strap with two small stud snaps and a large socket snap, and are designed to be joined to the two small socket snaps and one large stud snap on the right side. There are belts with a metal length adjustment buckle stitched in place on both sides at the waist, ensuring a snug fit. The interior is lined in a moss green nylon, with top entry pockets placed in the breasts behind both exterior pockets, along with a thin strap sewn in place in the collar to allow for hanging upon a hook. The jacket measures 490 mm across the shoulders x 590 mm in length, with limited fraying evident in the bullion wire on the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations patch, along with two small nips in the wool, one just above the left pocket where a badge once existed, the other near the tip of the CBI patch, otherwise, the jacket is free of mothing, exhibiting a wonderful texture in the wool, along with quality workmanship. Near extremely fine.
