United States; Includes: two Identification Tags (Dog Tags) (aluminum, die-stamped "EDWIN S ZIEMBA / 36453210 T43 44 A C" on both tags, 50.2 mm (w) x 28.3 mm (h) each, on a full-length neck chain); two Ribbon Bars (one with two ribbons: European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars and Army Good Conduct Medal, 70 mm (w) x 12.5 mm (h), swing bar pinback; one with three ribbons: American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal, 115 mm (w) x 13 mm (h), swing bar pinback); a U.S. Army Collar Disk (brass, 25.5 mm, dual push pins); a U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps Collar Disk (brass, 25.3 mm, dual push pins); a 100th Infantry Division "Century Division" Patch (blue, white and yellow embroidery, 52 mm (w) x 67 mm (h)); a 106th Infantry Division "Golden Lions Division" Patch (red, white, blue, light brown and dark brown embroidery, 60 mm, soiled); an Anti Aircraft Command Patch (red, white and blue embroidery, 58 mm (w) x 65 mm (h)); and a Waterproof Cartridge Case (waterproof covering on canvas, stamped in black ink "D39347" on the underside of the weather flap, snap closure, 75 mm (w) x 200 mm (h) x 30 mm (d), cracking). Footnote: Edwin S. Ziemba was born on March 10, 1920 in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan. He enlisted for Second World War service with the United States Army on February 19, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the "Enlistment for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law". He survived the war and died on June 9, 1992 in Florida, at the age of 72. His remains were cremated. (C:217)
