United States. A Second War Air Medal Group to Captain Ryland Rex Perry, USAAF

An Air Medal, in bronze, reverse unnamed, full size, on original ribbon, light wear, in extremely fine condition. 

An Asia Pacific Campaign Medal, in bronze, full size, original ribbon, light wear, very fine. 

A 5th Air Force Patch, embroidered, measures 68.3 mm (d), light wear, extremely fine. 

A USAAF Patch, embroidered, measures 65 mm (d), light wear, extremely fine.   
A Ribbon Bar, featuring the Air Medal ribbon with two star devices, an American Campaign medal ribbon, and an Asia Pacific Campaign medal ribbon with three star devices, to vertical push pins on the reverse, measures 105 mm (l), light wear, remains extremely fine. 

A USAAF Pilot Wing, in silver, horizontal pin on the reverse, marked AE.Co UTICA NY  and STERLING on the reverse, measures 76.1 mm (w) x 21.1 mm (h), dark patina, light wear, remains near extremely fine. 

A miniature USAAF pilot wing, in silver, horizontal pin on the reverse, 38 mm (w) x 10.8 mm (h), catch on the reverse is missing the closing clasp, light wear, very fine. 

Two sheet metal dog tags impressed RYLAND R. PERRY O-821769 T43 44 0 P, both very fine. 

Two USAAF collar insignia, on marked NS MEYER and one AMCRAFT on the reverse, each with two vertical ins, both very fine.  

Two Captains Bars insignia, in silver, reverse marked NS MEYER INC NEW YORK, functional pin on the reverse, very fine. 

A Pilot sweetheart bracelet bearing the USAAF pilot wing insignia and collar insignia, comprising seven small links and one larger central link, sterling silver, reverse engraved RYLAND R. PERRY 0-821769 TTKA, functional clasp, extremely fine. 

A Sweetheart bracelet on Australian coins (three pence, six pence, shilling), missing several links, each coin has been made convex, very fine.

Footnote: Ryland Rexford Perry was born on June 30, 1922 in Winchester, Virginia. He registered for the war at the age of 20. 
The 1944 Winchester Evening Star states “Ryland Rexford Perry, 21, has received the silver wings of an army air forces pilot at graduation ceremonies held at Napier Field, Ala. an advanced single-engine flying school of the Army Air Forces Training Command. Preceding the presentation of the wings he was sworn in as a second lieutenant… Perry is a graduate of the Handley High school and attended the University of Tennessee. He entered the armed services April 12, 1943 for flying training. 

Perry is named in the non-combat incident database with details stating P-40N, at Napier Field, Alabama. 

Perry died on June 8, 1962. He is buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery in California.
