United States. A Note Signed by Orville Wright along with Documents of the Estate of Wright Bros’ Nephew, Horace Wright

An exceptional collection of documents and photographs curated by the nephew of the Wright Brothers, Horace Wright, pertaining to Orville and Wilbur Wright and their first flight that took place on December 17th, 1903.

A large reprint of a black-and-white photograph depicting Orville Wright of the Wright Brothers, along with Colonel Edward Deeds. It is labeled on the reverse “Orville Wright & Col. Edward Deeds from the Estate of Horace A. Wright”, measuring 352 mm (w) x 278 mm (l).

A page taken from a newspaper, dated June 21st, 1946 depicting an advertisement for “Superior Quality Vitamins….by the tons” - depicting barrels of labeled vitamins leaving a factory complex, labeled “Roche Vitamin Division” of the Hoffman LA Roche Inc. Nutley 10, New Jersey, with a hand written note underneath reading “Sue: You can get all you want. No excuse for Bus limping around any longer” - signed  O.W. (Orville Wright), measuring 290 mm (w) x 259 mm (l).

A book from The Edison Institute from the Dedication of the Wright Brothers Home and Shop in Greenfield Village, spanning over 62 pages in total and containing a photographic print from the original negative of the only picture taken of man’s first flight, recorded at Kitty Hawk on December 17th 1903, depicting the plane, piloted by Orville Wright, with Wilbur Wright running at the side. The book chronicles the story of the Wright Brothers leading up to the groundbreaking first flight that lasted 12 unbelievable seconds for 120 incredible feet, measuring 165 mm (w) x 235 mm (l).

A series of documents collected by the Wright Brothers’ nephew, Horace Wright, from the official dedication of the Wright Brothers’ home and bicycle workshop, on April 16th, 1938, consisting of a formal invitation document, an event programme and dining menu.

A collection of seven black-and-white photographs, of the Wright Brothers, their home and bicycle shop at the dedication by the Henry Ford Museum. With two newspaper segments regarding the life and legacy of the Wright Brothers, along with the death announcement of the Wright Brothers’ nephew, Horace “Bus/Buster” Wright, who died at age 86.

A lot of medals, pins, and a commemorative spoon, consisting of 1) A Wright Brothers Home Celebration medal possibly worn by either Orville or Wilburn Wright, 2) Two “Great Seal of the State of Ohio” table medals, 3) A “Home of the Flying Machine” pin, along with an aluminum medal and metal fob.
