Fullsize in bronze gilt, measuring 33.5 mm (w) x 41 mm (h), original ribbon with brooch pinback; and Miniature in bronze gilt, measuring 16.3 mm (w) x 20.5 mm (h), with push pin. Extremely fine. Accompanied by its 36 mm (w) x 10 mm ribbon bar with dual push pins and its 17 mm (w) x 3.8 mm (h) enameled ribbon bar with screwback, in its hardshelled case of issue, marked "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" on the lid, the medal bed exhibiting sunning, case near extremely fine.

Footnote: The Navy Expert Rifleman Medal was established in conjunction with the Expert Pistol Shot Medal, as an incentive to recognize outstanding rifle marksmanship. It is awarded to members of the Navy or Naval Reserve who qualify as Expert with their issue rifle firing a prescribed qualification course. The service ribbon of the Rifleman Medal is awarded to naval personnel who qualify marksman or sharpshooter. When awarded for marksman qualification, only the ribbon is awarded. When awarded for sharpshooter qualification, the ribbon is awarded with a Silver "S". Those who qualify as an expert receive the medal and the accompanying service ribbon with a Silver "E".
