1. A Philippine Congressional Medal. In bronze, the obverse features on flag bearer accompanied by two soldiers bearing rifles, the upper contour of the medal bears the words PHILIPPINE INSURRECTION, the exergue the date 1899, the reverse bears the inscription FOR PATRIOTISM FORTITUDE AND LOYALTY, surrounded by a wreath tied at the bottom with a bow, on original ribbon, extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Philippine Congressional Medal was instituted by the United States Congress on 9 July 1906. The medal recognized those soldiers who had enlisted in the United States Army for the purpose of serving in the Philippine–American War.
2. An Army Philippine Campaign Medal. In bronze, the obverse bearing a palm tree surrounded by the inscription PHILIPPINE INSURRECTION and the date 1899, the reverse bears an eagle above the words FOR SERVICE, the upper contour of the medal bears the words UNITED STATES ARMY, on the original ribbon with two red stripes, light wear, very fine condition.
3. Two Navy Philippine Campaign Medals. In bronze, the obverse bears the image of a stone gate surrounded by the words PHILIPPINE CAMPAIGN and the dates 1899-1903, the reverse shows an eagle holding an anchor above the words FOR SERVICE, the upper contour of the medal bearing the words UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, on original blue ribbon with red stripes, light wear, very fine condition.
Footnote: The Philippine Campaign Medal is a medal of the United States Armed Forces which was created to denote service of U.S. military men in the Philippine–American War between the years of 1899 and 1913. Although a single service medal, the Philippine Campaign Medal was issued under separate criteria for both the United States Army and the U.S. Navy.
