 An example of a home front civil defense air raid warden helmet, constructed of magnetic metal that has been painted white, bearing the motif of the United States Official Home Front Civilian Defence Air Raid department, the motif consisting of a red and white diagonally striped triangle in a dark blue circular field, the underside of the helmet reveals a web-liner constructed of canvas material (one of the strands torn) that is secured to the helmet via six magnetic rivets, with a thin replacement leather chin strap that is secured to the helmet via two soldered-on loops, the inside of the helmet is marked “409 Allen Street, Allentown, Pennsylvania” and “Control Center 3-7531” by hand, measuring 300 mm (w) x 330 mm (l), with contact marks and chipping of the paint on the exterior of the helmet, along with a tear to the canvas of the web-liner, in overall near very fine condition.
