The book is divided into six chapters (1 - The Hat; 2 - Household Cavalry; 3 - Heavy Cavalry; 4 - Light Dragoons; 5 - Hussars; 6 - Lancers), each chapter illustrating the various versions in existence for that particular unit. The book contains 88 pages of detailed text along with forty black and white photographic plates, printed in black ink, on a coated white paper stock, page 4 with a colour photograph of a Helmet of the 15th Light Dragoons c.1767, measuring 178 mm (w) x 227 mm (h) x 6 mm (d), exhibiting crinkling at the upper left on the front cover, however, the pages remaining pristine.
