United Kingdom. An Order of the British Empire, Commander, in Case

Instituted June 4, 1917. In silver gilt, a cross with light blue enamel arms, the obverse medallion presents a seated Britannia surrounded by a red enamelled ring inscribed FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE, the reverse is plain with the center embossed with the crowned cypher of King George V, surmounted by a crown, measures 64 mm (w) x 85.2 mm (h), unmarked, enamels intact, gilt wear, a notable section of loss on the right side of the 6 o’clock arm, worn on a segment of original red and white military ribbon, in extremely fine condition.

Housed in the original case of issue, a black leatherette exterior marked C.B.E. MILY, the interior lid marked D&SS, the base a light brown velvet recessed medalbed, measures 160 mm (w) x 112 mm (h), hinge and clasp functional, in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by the Statutes of Wear card.
