United Kingdom. An India General Service Medal to Water Carrier Lakhoo, Probyn’s Horse

Instituted 1938. In silver, rim officially impressed W-CARR. LAKHOO, PROBYN’S HORSE., on original ribbon with NORTH WEST FRONTIER 1936-37, very dark patina to the reverse, light wear and contact marks to the edges, very fine. 

Footnote: The Probyn's Horse took part in the North-West Frontier operations of 1936–37 as part of the Indian Army’s response to renewed tribal unrest along the frontier regions of Waziristan and adjoining areas. During this period, the regiment was employed in mobile column duties, convoy protection, reconnaissance, and support operations in difficult mountainous terrain, where rapid cavalry mobility remained valuable despite the increasing mechanization of the interwar period. The 1936–37 campaign formed part of the broader India General Service Medal clasp “North West Frontier 1936–37,” awarded to personnel, including enrolled followers such as water carriers, who served in the operational area during the qualifying period.
