In silvered copper, two-piece construction, circular centrepiece inscribed "- C.R. GREENWOOD - H.M.S. - RESOURCE -", the centrepiece screwed in place and mounted to a cross base, inscribed "SHOVE 1/2D. - CHAMPIONSHIP - MALTA - -" on the top arm, "1934 - 35." on the left arm and "WHITE ENSIGN LEAGUE -" on the bottom arm, with a graphic appearing on the right arm, measuring 95.3 mm (w) x 95 mm (h), with ring suspension, spotting evident on the obverse, contact marks and surface wear evident on the reverse, very fine.
Footnote: HMS Resource was a fleet repair ship of the Royal Navy, built by Vickers-Armstrongs and launched in 1928. The ship served in two theatres during the Second World War. The ship was fitted with four three-drum Admiralty boilers, giving her a top speed of 15 knots (28 km/h), armed with four 4" guns. Her complement varied throughout her career, from a peacetime complement of 581, rising in wartime and displaced 12,300 tons. She served in the Mediterranean from 1939 until 1944, except in early 1940, when she spent a small amount of time at Freetown. She served in the Eastern Fleet from 1944, and was scrapped at Inverkeithing in February 1954.
