In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Instituted 1854. In silver, rim officially impressed J. JANSEN. CAPE MD RIFLEMEN. on replacement ribbon, notable edge bruises on the rim, bright, scratches and wear, very fine.
Footnote: J. Jansen was a member of the Cape Mounted Riflemen, a locally raised colonial force employed on the Eastern Frontier of the Cape of Good Hope. He was awarded the South Africa Medal for service in the Xhosa (Frontier) Wars between 1834 and 1853.
Units such as the Cape Mounted Riflemen played a central role in these campaigns, operating as a highly mobile mounted infantry and police force along the frontier. Men like Jansen would have been engaged in a combination of patrol work, skirmishing, escort duties, and participation in punitive expeditions during the later stages of the frontier conflicts, particularly the 8th Frontier War (1850–1853). The Cape Mounted Riflemen were often among the most actively engaged colonial troops in these operations, working alongside British regular regiments and locally raised levies to contain Xhosa resistance and secure the eastern border districts of the colony.
