United Kingdom. A Most Honourable Order of the Bath in Gold, Knight Commander Set, Civil Division

Neck Badge: Gold, voided design in the centre, marked with the British crown and "18" on the obverse, maker marked with the R. Garrard insignia, marked with the Queen's head, marked with a leopard's head (made in London) and date marked with a "B"  on the reverse, measuring 36.3 mm (w) x 56.3 mm (h), weighing 49.43 grams, on its original full-length sash ribbon with silver gilt closure; and Breast Star: multi-piece construction, insignia in Gold with red enamels, affixed to a silver star base, each of the four arms of the star with thirteen faceted rays, with five faceted rays between each arm, measuring 75.5 mm (w) x 74.8 mm (h), 82.07 grams, Gold vertical pinback, intact enamels. Together, extremely fine. In their hardshelled case of issue, brown pebbled exterior, inside lid in mint green satin, padded and maker marked "R & S. GARRARD & Co. Goldsmiths & Jewellers TO THE CROWN, 25 HAYMARKET LONDON", medal bed with a raised platform in green felt that is recessed for the Badge and slotted for the Breast Star, measuring 100 mm in width x 215 mm in height x 42 mm in depth, scuffing and indentations evident on the exterior, case better than very fine. 

Footnote: The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by King George I on May 18, 1725. The name derives from an elaborate medieval ceremony for preparing a candidate to receive his knighthood, of which ritual bathing (as a symbol of purification) was an element. While not all knights went through such an elaborate ceremony, knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I constituted the Knights of the Bath as a regular "Military Order". He did not revive the Order, which did not previously exist, in the sense of a body of knights governed by a set of statutes and whose numbers were replenished when vacancies occurred. The Order consists of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom (currently King Charles III), the Great Master (vacant since 2023), and three Classes of members: (i) Knight Grand Cross (GCB) or Dame Grand Cross (GCB); (ii) Knight Commander (KCB) or Dame Commander (DCB); and (iii) Companion (CB). Members belong to either the Civil Division or the Military Division.
