A British War Medal, in silver, rim impressed 3161 PTE. F.C. WHIPPS. 6-D.GDS., original ribbon, light wear, extremely fine.

Footnote: Frederick Christopher Whipps served with the 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers) during the First War. He later served with the labour corps under service number 617907.

A report from the Easter Daily Press (Norfolk, England) of April 15, 1914 states “Frederick Christopher Whipps (21), a private in the 6th Dragoon Guards, stationed at Cavalry Barracks, Canterbury, was charged with having deserted from that regiment since February 14th. Detective Charles Farrow arrested the deserter on Sunday morning.”
