A Victory Medal, in bronze gilt, rim impressed T-2602 PTE. T.H. SMITH, THE QUEEN’S R., minor gilt wear, reverse bears minor tape residue and discolouration in the center, very fine. 

An India General Service Medal Service Medal, in silver, rim impressed 200987 PTE. T.H. SMITH, 4 QUEEN’S RL. R., with AFGHANISTAN N.W.F 1919 clasp on replacement ribbon, dark patina to the right side, minor wear, near extremely fine. 

Footnote: Thomas Henry Smith (T-2602) served with the Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment during the First War. At the outbreak of war in 1914, the regiment rapidly expanded from a small number of regular battalions into many additional units, including Territorial and volunteer battalions raised as part of Kitchener’s Army. These battalions were deployed primarily on the Western Front, where they fought in major engagements such as the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Ypres, enduring the harsh conditions of trench warfare and suffering heavy casualties. Some elements of the regiment also served in other theatres, including Italy and the Middle East.
