In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Instituted in 1899. 1 Clasp - FENIAN RAID 1870 (Pte. H.W. Perry. 60th. Bn.). In silver, engraver marked "T.B." on the obverse, measuring 36.3 mm in diameter. Naming is officially impressed. Dark patina, edge nicks, very light contact overall, shortened replacement ribbon, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Canada General Service Medal was instituted in January 1899 and was awarded to members of Imperial forces and Canadian Militia who fought against Fenian raiders who came north during the aftermath of the American Civil War. Private Henry W. Perry is shown on the roll of the 79 man 60th (Missisquoi Infantry) Battalion and is listed on page 140 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp and noted as having been in action at the Battle of Eccles Hill (AKA The War at the Border) on May 25, 1870. The Fenians crossed the Canadian border into Quebec and proceeded to the top of Eccles Hill where they were confronted by members of the Canadian home guard and volunteers. The Fenians were overwhelmed by local militia units and armed citizens, and were compelled to abandon what was anticipated to have been a "glorious victory".
