Description

Four-piece construction, illustrating the regimental hart (deer) crossing a ford in silver, surrounded by a garter resting upon a Maltese cross and backed by an eight-pointed star in bronze gilt, the garter inscribed "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", with a ribbon banner inscribed "BEDFORDSHIRE" in silver below, the entire aforementioned insignia mounted to a seven-pointed star base in bronze gilt, the bottom portion of the star originally housing a crown that has been severed from it and originally appeared as the top, the insignia mounted to the base turned 180 degrees so that the severed portion of the star base appears at the bottom, measuring 87 mm (w) x 76.5 mm (h), all four prongs securing the insignia to the base along with the two helmet plate lugs intact, better than very fine.
