Footnote: The King’s Shropshire Light Infantry (KSLI) served throughout the First World War on multiple fronts. Its battalions fought extensively on the Western Front, taking part in major battles such as Ypres, Loos, the Somme, Arras, and Passchendaele, as well as the final Allied offensives of 1918. The regiment also served outside France and Flanders, including in Gallipoli, the Middle East (Mesopotamia and Palestine), Salonika, and India. Expanding from a small pre-war force into many wartime battalions, the KSLI suffered heavy casualties and earned a strong reputation for endurance and gallantry throughout the conflict.
