In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
A 1796 Pattern Troopers sword, made famous by the charge of the heavy brigades at Waterloo and used by Dragoons, Dragoon Guards, Royal Horse Guards, and Life Guards. This example is an example found here in Canada and has been restored via a thorough cleaning, consisting of the characteristic straight, single-edged “backsword” blade with a broad fuller on each side. Originally featuring the famous hatchet point (angled like a broad hatchet blade) that was weak for thrusting, this example was modified to a spear point to improve thrust capability. Marked with a crown over 8 for its inspection mark and proofing. Also with partial makers mark on blade spine. Blade length of 87 cm with period contact nicks on edge.
Guard Type with the distinctive disc hilt with a round plate in front of the grip with pierced holes, paired with a single knucklebow and two short langets projecting from the front. Its grip is a wood core having lost its cord and leather; iron parts riveted for strength.
The heavy straight scabbard is original as issued with a heavy iron scabbard featuring two loose suspension rings and sections of original leather.
A fine, recently discovered example, fine.
