Turkey, Republic. A Turkish Army M1 Cap Badge

(Türk Kara Kuvvetleri Şapka Rozeti M1) a die-stamped metal cap badge of oval form featuring the national emblem of the Republic of Turkey consisting of a crescent and five-pointed star within a wreath of laurel leaves surmounted by a small crescent and star device, constructed in gilt-toned metal and mounted on a distinctive bi-colour cloth backing of red and blue, intended for wear on the standard service cap of the Turkish Land Forces, the reverse retaining its original attachment prongs for mounting to the cap body, measuring approximately 45 mm (h) x 36 mm (w), displaying light surface wear and minor age toning to the metal surfaces consistent with period service use, in very fine condition.

Footnote: Following the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, the Turkish Armed Forces adopted insignia incorporating the national symbol of the crescent and star, an emblem historically associated with both the Ottoman state and the modern Turkish nation.
