Tunisia, Republic. An Order of the Republic, II Class Grand Officer Set, by Bertrand, c.1965

(wisam aljumhuria / وسام الجمهورية). Instituted in 1959. Type II (1963-Date). A lovely grand officer set, presenting a neck badge, in frosted silver, a green enamelled five point star with red enamel borders, three arrows in each quadrant, the obverse medallion bearing the Tunisian coat of arms encircled by a red ring with inscription in Arabic “Republic of Tunisia”, the reverse plain, measures 65.05 mm (w) x 72.08 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), weighs 63.1 grams (including ribbon), worn on full length neck ribbon, marked on suspension ring with AB&C maker mark denoting Bertrand, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition. The Star of the Order,  in frosted silver, a green enamelled five point star with red enamel borders, three arrows in each quadrant, the obverse medallion bearing the Tunisian coat of arms encircled by a red ring with inscription in Arabic “Republic of Tunisia”, the reverse featuring a vertical pin assembly with dual stays, measures 85.43 mm (w) x 86.53 mm (h), weighs 99.44 grams, enamels intact, light wear to silvering on reverse, hinge and clasp functional, in extremely fine condition. 

Contained in its original case of issue, a dark green pebble exterior, with a creme coloured velvet medal bed with silk lid marked ARTHUS BERTRAND in the corner, measures 130 mm (w) x 250 mm (l) x 45 mm (d), hinge and clasp functional, in extremely fine condition.
