(Nishan al-Iftikhar). Type II (1843-1857). Muslim issue. Founded by Mustafa Pasha-Bey in 1835. Badge in silver gilt, a special Class breast badge consisting of 23 rose-cut glass, surrounding a central protrude cypher of Ahmad Pasha-Bey composed of 21 old cut/rose cut glass, surmounting by the symbol of the Star and Quarter Moon also in old cut/rose cut glass, with encrusted old cut/rose cut glass shaping leaves on the bottom, plain reverse, measuring 30.21 mm (w) x 58.05 mm (h), presenting toned silver and wearing contact on the reverse, missing its loop suspension, accompanied by original breast ribbon, very fine.
Footnote: The Order was founded by Mustafa Pasha-Bey in 1835 in a single class. Extended by Ahmad Pasha-Bey in 1843, all new classes were encrusted with brilliants and precious stones corresponding to the class. Extended again in two further classes in 1847. The Order was a general order of merit and originally was restricted to men. It was officially obsolete in 1957.
