Thailand, Kingdom. An Order of the Crown, Grand Cross, c.1945

(เครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์อันมีเกียรติยศยิ่งมงกุฎไทย). Instituted in 1869. Type I. 1869-1948 issue. A lovely Grand Cross Set, the badge in silver gilt consisting of an outer ring of alternating green and red petals, the center medallion featuring Royal iconography in silver gilt with an exterior pebbled ring, the reverse with raised Thai characters, surmounted by a tri-petal suspension in silver gilt, measures 47.6mm (w) x 71.5mm (h), weighs 35.4 grams, suspended from a double barrelled loop and attached to original full length sash, enamels intact, dark patina, minimal wear, sash faded, in extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by the Breast Star of the Order, composed of silver gilt consisting of an outer ring of alternating green and red petals, obverse centre exhibiting enamelled Royal iconography, on a pleasant blue enamelled field surrounded in a ring of silver facets reverse with single pin assembly, measures 68.6mm (w) x 68.1mm (h), weighs 72.5 grams, light enamel wear on medallion, small cracks in enamels in the petals, unmarked, hinge and catch functional, in extremely fine condition.

The Order of the Crown of Thailand is awarded to those who are not qualified for the Order of the White Elephant.
