In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
An infantry officer’s dress sword, measuring 1020 mm when inserted into the scabbard. The sword features an 810 mm-long polish magnetic metal blade with a sharpened tip and unsharpened edges, and with a fuller extending along the length of each side. The lower third of both the obverse and reverse demonstrates bluing, in turn overlaid by a variety of etched and gilded decorations. The upper edge of the blade bears an etched maker’s mark of “J.J. GIRTANNER IN ST. GALLEN”. A black fabric washer covers the seam with the polished brass hilt. The hilt fans on each side, providing an effective hand guard, with a band completing in a pommel in the form of a stylized dragoon helmet topped by a plume. The grip is comprised of a solid, pebbled piece of ebony. The sword is accompanied by its period original scabbard, consisting of a boiled blackened leather shaft. The tip bears a polished brass fitting, while the throat has a fitting, of identical construction, bearing a protruding clip for frog attachment.Minor oxidation is evident to the blade, with some age-appropriate material fatigue visible to the scabbard leather. The sword is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
Shipping Footnote: Please note that there will be an additional shipping charge during or post time of purchase.
