(Kungliga Serafimerorden). Instituted by King Frederick I on 23 February 1748. A lovely Grand Cross Badge, a white enamelled Maltese Cross with crosses on each and ball finials, winged cherubs in each quadrant, the central medallion in blue enamels featuring the inscription IHS (Iesus Hominum Slavator), with three crowns, the reverse medallion presents the letters FRS (Fredericus Rex Sueciae), the cross is surmounted by a large crown with red, white, and green enamel details, measures 50.8mm (w) x 80.57mm (h), weighs 35.6 grams enamel chip to 6 o’clock arm on reverse, a rare decoration which remains in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by a full length blue sash, missing badge attachment, light wear, in very fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, a red leatherette exterior with delicate gilt details on the lid, the interior is maker marked C.F CARLMAN STOCKHOLM, the base presents a storage component for the sash, with a hinged blue velvet medal bed for the star (not included), likely missing the velvet medal bed for the cross, remains in very fine condition.
