(Nordstjärneorden). Instituted 1748 by King Frederick I. Type II (1871-1919). In silver gilt, a white Maltese cross with ball finials, crowns in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a white star on a blue enamel field surrounded by the inscription NESCIT OCCASUM (It Knows No Decline), with ornate suspension attaching a large surmounting crown with red, green and white enamel details, measures 54.85mm (w) x 79.85mm (h – inclusive of integral crown), weighs 39.0 grams (including ribbon), enamels intact, light wear, a lovely star in extremely fine condition. The Commander Star, in silver, a large Maltese cross with small ball finials, the obverse presenting a superimposed five point star, the reverse with a single vertical pin assembly, measures 83.35mm (w) x 84.5mm (h), weighs 32.9 grams, light wear, dark patina around edges, hinge and catch functional, in extremely fine condition.
The set is contained in its red case of issue, presenting a leatherette exterior with gilt design along the trim of the lid, the interior presenting a silk lid marked C.F. Carlman AB STOCKHOLM, with a partial red velvet recessed medal bed in the base, measures 115mm (w) x 205mm (h) x 32mm (d), hinge and catch functional, light wear, scuff on exterior lid, in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by a ribbon rosette with push pin reverse.
