Spain, Spanish State. An Agricultural Order of Merit, Grand Cross Star, in Gold

(Orden al Mérito Agrícola). Instituted on December 1, 1905 by King Alfonso XIII. Type I. A Grand Cross Breast Star, a silver gilt base with green enamelled arms, with an 18K Gold medallion with central silver disc depicting a woman plowing, encircled by a white ring inscribed MERIOT AGRICOLA, with gold and red/green enamelled agricultural symbols around the exterior, with a central Spanish shield, the reverse presents a carved vertical pin flanked by dual stays, measures 88.9 mm (w) x 89.5 mm (h), weighs 93.2 grams, minor enamel wear to arms, a lovely star, with Gold totalling roughly 12 grams, in better than extremely fine condition. 

Contained in the case of issue, a burgundy textured box with silver plain on the lid inscribed SECCION ESPECIAL DE LA MUTUALIDAD DE AGRICULTURA ASOCIACION NACIONAL DE PERITOS AGRICOLAS DEL ESTADO INSTIUTTO NACIONAL DE INGENIEROS TECNICOS AL ILTMO. SR. D. MARIANO ANTON MATEO (SPECIAL SECTION OF THE AGRICULTURAL MUTUAL SOCIETY NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE AGRICULTURAL EXPERTS NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL ENGINEERS TO THE MOST ILLUSTRIOUS MR. D. MARIANO ANTON MATEO), interior with a velvet medal bed and interior silk lid marked Villaneuva y JOYEROS Laiseca MADRID, measures 120 mm (w) x 160 mm (h) x 50 mm (d), functional hinge and swing-lock clasp, light scuffing and wear to the exterior, tarnishing to the silver plaque, remains extremely fine.
