(Orden de Isabel la Católica). Three-piece construction, in silver gilt and Gold with red, white, green and blue enamels, unmarked, measuring 34.3 mm (w) x 48 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath suspension, weighing 16.0 grams, french rabbit head hallmark on rays between the 9 and 12 o'clock arm denoting silver guarantee for small items between 1819-1838, original ribbon, replacement wreath suspension with Gold ring and clasp also replacement, with evidence of melt on reverse, chipping evident in the blue and green enamels on the obverse centrepiece, in addition to chipping in the blue and white enamels on the reverse centrepiece and the red enamels on the arm at 12 o'clock, fine.
Footnote: The Order of Isabella the Catholic (Orden de Isabel la Católica) was instituted as the Royal and American Order of Isabella the Catholic (Real y Americana Orden de Isabella Católica) by royal decree of March 24, 1815. The name of the Order was modified when the Spanish Crown abandoned its intentions of ruling Latin America and overseas on April 15, 1889. The Order is active in Spain, and its current statements were approved on November 6, 1998. It is conferred to foreigners and Spanish citizens either women or men for meritorious civil acts, especially those that foster the relationships between Spain and other nations.
