(Real y Muy Distinguida Orden de Carlos III). Instituted September 19, 1771 by King Charles III. Of extremely high quality French manufacture, exhibiting characteristic details of French style with heavily convex design and deeply faceted silver finishings, presenting a silver faceted Maltese cross with ball finials with blue enamel details in the center of each arm, faceted fleur-de-lis in each quadrant, the obverse medallion in silver gilt presenting the cypher of Charles III surrounded by a green enamel wreath and a blue enamel ring with a faceted ring on each side, the reverse offers a single vertical pin flanked by dual stays, with cartouche for 'BOULLANGER PARIS', hallmarked on pin with boars head denoting French silver fineness post 1838 as well as additional maker hallmarked on pin and catch, measuring 69.92 mm (w) x 77.19 mm (h), 77.4 grams, excellent example, extremely fine.
