(Medalla de la Campaña de Filipinas) Philippines Campaign Medal, bronze medal with shield-shaped suspension and crowned wreath device, the obverse bearing the bust of Alfonso XIII above the inscription “ALFONSO XIII AL EJÉRCITO DE FILIPINAS,” the reverse inscribed “VALOR DISCIPLINA LEALTAD 1896-1898,” suspended from a yellow ribbon with multiple vertical red stripes and plain bar suspension, the ribbon separated from the medal and lacking maker’s mark, measuring approximately 31.4 mm x 48.7 mm inclusive of the suspension device.
2. (Orden de Isabel la Católica) Order of Isabella the Catholic, Knight Grade, silvered and enamelled cross with white enamel arms and green laurel wreath between the arms, suspended from a red ribbon with yellow central stripe, measuring 32.7 mm x 54.1 mm inclusive of the suspension device.
3. (Medalla de Mindanao) Mindanao Campaign Medal, bronze medal with suspension bars inscribed “1890-1891” and “1894-1895,” suspended from a yellow ribbon with multiple vertical red stripes, the ribbon frayed and separating from the medal, measuring 33.7 mm x 39.1 mm inclusive of the suspension device.
All items are in fair condition, ribbon damage, enamel wear, separation to stitching, and age-related handling marks throughout and all are suspended from its original gilt square style medal bar.
Footnote: These medals represent Spain’s military campaigns in the Philippines during the final decades of Spanish colonial rule in Southeast Asia. The Philippines Campaign Medal commemorated service during the Philippine Revolution and associated military operations conducted against insurgent forces between 1896 and 1898. The Mindanao Campaign Medal recognized Spanish operations against Moro resistance groups in the southern Philippines during the campaigns of 1890–1891 and 1894–1895. The Order of Isabella the Catholic, instituted in 1815 by King Ferdinand VII, rewarded loyalty and distinguished service to the Spanish Crown and its overseas territories.
