(무공훈장). Instituted October 18, 1950. Type II (1963-1967 Issue). A Second Class Set of Insignia comprising a neck badge; a silver eight point star with faceted rays, with a red enamel Maltese cross superimposed on the rays, the central medallion featuring a Korean helmet on a blue enamel background, the reverse features Korean text and the impressed number “3388” in the central medallion encircled by blue enamel rings, the badge is surmounted by a wreath and star suspension, measuring 55mm (w) x 78mm (h – inclusive of suspension and integral loop), worn on an original neck ribbon with a sliding clasp, large enamel chip on the 3 o’clock arm, dark patina, otherwise very fine condition; accompanied by the breast star, a silver eight point star with faceted rays, with a red enamel Maltese cross superimposed on the rays, the central medallion featuring a Korean helmet on a blue enamel background, the reverse features a single pin and ball catch assembly, with Korean text and the impressed number “3388” in the central medallion encircled by blue enamel rings, measures 59mm (w) x 59mm (h), enamels intact, dark patina, overall very fine condition. Accompanied by a single ribbon bar measuring 37mm (w) x 10mm (h), with single pin on reverse, very fine condition. Contained in its red leatherette hard shell case of issue, with bright red velvet removable medalbed and silk lining on the lid, working hinge and clasp, measures 180mm (w) x 248mm (l) x 42mm (d), extremely fine condition.
Footnote: This Order is South Korea's highest military honour. It is conferred upon South Korean and Allied military personnel in recognition of gallantry and exceptional meritorious service during combat or national emergencies. This Order was amended in 1963, 1967, and in 1973.
