South Africa. A Group of Four to Corporal Isadore Mofsowitz, 2nd Division Ammunition Company, 12th Field Supply Company Q.S.C., Union Defence Force 1939-1945 Star (125513 I. MOFSOWITZ); Africa Star (125513 I. MOFSOWITZ); War Medal 1939-1945 (125513 I. MOFSOWITZ); and Africa Service Medal (125513 I. MOFSOWITZ). Naming is officially impressed. Un-mounted, contact marks, original ribbons, very fine. Accompanied by copies of his Service Records.
Footnote: Isadore Mofsowitz was born on July 14, 1917, his religion, Jewish. He was employed as a Dispatch Clerk when he enlisted with the Union Defence Force for service in the Second World War. In the rank of Private, he was transferred from Division, Q.S.C. to the 2nd Division Ammunition Company on March 10, 1940, then posted to the 12th Field Supply Company, Q.S.C. on August 1, 1940. Mofsowitz was promoted to the rank of Temporary Corporal on April 10, 1941, then confirmed in the rank of Corporal on March 1, 1942. Corporal Mofsowitz embarked from Durban, South Africa aboard the SS Dunera on June 1, 1941, disembarked at Suez, Egypt on the 24th, for service in the North African theatre. One year after his arrival in North Africa, he was taken as a Prisoner of War at Torbruk on June 20, 1942. Almost three years later, he was liberated to the United Kingdom on May 29, 1945 and treated at the Military Hospital Cottsloe as an outpatient as of July 11, 1945. For his Second World War service, Corporal Mofsowitz was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Africa Star, the War Medal 1939-1945 and the Africa Service Medal.
