(Orden Takovskog Krsta). Instituted in 1865. Type IV. In silver gilt with red, white, blue and green enamels, cypher of Mihailo Obrenović IV on the obverse, marked with an "A" (Vienna), a Diana's head (Dianakopf) hallmark (which was used between 1872 and 1922), the head flanked by the number "2" (.900 silver fineness) on the left and the assay city mark "A" (Vienna) on the right, and maker marked "G.A.S." (G.A. Scheid) on the ring, marked with an "A" (Vienna) on the loop, measuring 43 mm (w) x 71.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and laterally-pierced ball suspension, tiny chip evident in one of the white jewels on the crown on the reverse, otherwise, the enamels are intact, on its original full-length neck ribbon, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Cross of Takovo was instituted in the Principality of Serbia in 1865 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire, which had started in Takovo, Serbia. The decree that established the Cross and Silver Medal was signed on May 22, 1865 by Mihailo Obrenović III, Prince of Serbia. The Order was suppressed in 1903.
