(Orden Svetog Save). Instituted January 23, 1883 by King Milan I. Type III. (1922-1941). A III Class decoration in silver gilt, presenting a white enamelled Maltese cross with blue enamel borders and ball finials, between each quadrant sits a crowned double headed eagle with outstretched wings, the obverse medallion features St. Sava in a green robe holding a scepter and an open book surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed троvломb сконмb вbса прнобрвте (One’s Own Work Achieves All), the reverse features the year 1883 on a white enamel field, the cross is suspended by a surmounting crown, measures 50.75mm (w) x 85.47mm (h – inclusive of surmounting crown), weighs 52.1 grams, enamels intact, evident loss of gilt, in very fine condition.
Accompanied by a full-length original neck ribbon.
Contained in its original case of issue, composed of wood and blue paper covering, the exterior shows considerable wear, and the lid is marked "CB. CABA III." (St. Sava 3rd Class) on the lid, maker marked in Croatian "KOVNICA SORLINI VARAŽDIN" (Sorlini Mint in Varaždin) on the white cloth inside lid, raised platform with a navy blue felt recessed medal bed, hinge and clasp functional, notable wear to exterior and discolouration, near very fine.
