A medal bar for a distinguished Second World War combatant, featuring six decorations, including:
1. An Order of the Badge of Honour, Type IV, Variation I, constructed of silver with enamels, constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the top by a red-enameled five-pointed star, overlaid by two raised figures clutching red enameled banners bearing an inscription of “ПРОЛЕТАРИИ ВСЕХ СТРАН, СОЕДИНЯЙТЕСЬ!” (“WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!”), situated above a plaque bearing a gilt inscription of “ЗНАК ПОЧЕТА” (“BADGE OF HONOUR”), the reverse maker marked “МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР” for the Soviet Mint, engraved with an award number of “528663”, measuring 33.26 mm (w) x 50.54 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. A second Order of the Badge of Honour, Type IV, Variation I, constructed of silver with enamels, constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the top by a red-enameled five-pointed star, overlaid by two raised figures clutching red enameled banners bearing an inscription of “ПРОЛЕТАРИИ ВСЕХ СТРАН, СОЕДИНЯЙТЕСЬ!” (“WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!”), situated above a plaque bearing a gilt inscription of “ЗНАК ПОЧЕТА” (“BADGE OF HONOUR”), the reverse maker marked “МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР” for the Soviet Mint, engraved with an award number of “553307”, measuring 33.54 mm (w) x 49.79 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. Order of Glory, Type II, III Class, constructed of silver with gilt and enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised depiction of the Spasskaya Tower, situated within a wheat stalk wreath which is joined together at the bottom by a red enameled banner bearing a silvered inscription of “СЛАВА” (“GLORY”), the reverse bearing central raised initials “СССР” (“USSR”) within a circular ring, engraved with a serial number of “400207”, measuring 45.52 mm (w) x 47.90 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. A Medal for Courage, Type II, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, the obverse bearing a central depressed inscription of “ЗА ОТВАГУ” (“FOR COURAGE”), situated above a raised depiction of a T-35 tank and and below aircraft in formation, the six o’clock position overlaid by depressed and red enameled initials “СССР” (“USSR”), the reverse stamped with an issue number of “3273256”, measuring 37.24 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
5. A Medal for Battle Merit, Type II, constructed of silver with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised inscription of “ЗА БОЕВЫЕ ЗАСЛУГА” (“FOR BATTLE MERIT”), topped by a red enameled inscription of “СССР” (“USSR”), and situated above a crossed rifle and sabre, unmarked, measuring 32.01 mm in diameter, demonstrating total loss of enamels to the obverse, in near extremely fine condition.
6. A Medal for Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War, constructed of brass, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 32.07 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 170 mm-long bar consisting of overlapping pentagonal aluminum plates, with screwposts at each end, with replacement suspension for the Medal for Courage, in addition to some soiling and wear of the ribbons, in very fine condition.
