A medal bar for a distinguished combatant of the Great Patriotic War featuring seven decorations, including:
1. An Order of the Red Banner of Labour, Type III, Variation I, constructed of a silver alloy with gilt and enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, the obverse consisting of gilded circular wreath, joined together at the bottom by a red enameled banner bearing silvered Russian Cyrcillic letters “СССР”, surrounding a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a bayonet, hammer, and plow, in turn bearing a red enameled star defaced by a silvered hammer and sickle on a field of white enamels, with a banner flag fitted through the star featuring a red enameled field overlaid by a silvered inscription of “ПРОЛЕТАРИИ ВСЕХ СТРАН, СОЕДИНЯЙТЕСЬ!” (“WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!”), the reverse stamped with a mark of “МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР” for the Soviet Mint, engraved with an issue number of “114192”, measuring 37.57 mm (w) x 45.43 mm (h), demonstrating some loss of gilt finish and minor flecking to the enamels, in extremely fine condition.
2. An Order of Glory, Type II, III Class, constructed of a silver alloy with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, consisting of a five-pointed star, the obverse bearing a central circular laurel wreath, joined together at the bottom by a red enameled banner overlaid by a silvered inscription of “СЛАВА” (“GLORY”) and topped by a red enameled star, surrounding a central depiction of the Spasskaya Tower, the reverse bearing raised initials “СССР” situated within a circular ring, engraved with an issue number of “673953”, measuring 45.72 mm (w) x 47.89 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A Medal for Courage, Type II, Variation I, constructed of a silver alloy, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, the obverse bearing a central depressed inscription of “ЗА ОТВАГУ” (“FOR COURAGE”), situated above a raised depiction of a T-35 tank and and below aircraft in formation, the six o’clock position overlaid by depressed initials “СССР”, the reverse stamped with an issue number of “2833515”, measuring 37.28 mm in diameter, demonstrating minor pitting throughout, in near extremely fine condition.
4. A Medal for Battle Merit, Type II, constructed of a silver alloy with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, the obverse bearing a central raised inscription of “ЗА БОЕВЫЕ ЗАСЛУГИ” (“FOR BATTLE MERIT”), topped by red enameled initials “СССР” and situated above a crossed sword and rifle, unmarked, measuring 32.11 mm in diameter, demonstrating a consistent patina throughout with minor edge nicks, in near extremely fine condition.
5. A Medal for the Defence of Leningrad, constructed of brass, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, unmarked, measuring 32.05 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition
6. A Medal for Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, constructed of brass, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, unmarked, measuring 32.32 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
7. A Jubilee Medal for 30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy, constructed of brass, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a pentagonal backplate, unmarked, measuring 32.13 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
The reverse revealing integral clips which securely fasten each backplate into position, with threaded brass lugs emerging from the Order of the Red Banner and the Jubilee Medal for 30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy for screw-on attachment to the owner’s uniform, unmarked, measuring 20 cm in total length, demonstrating moderate soiling throughout the ribbons, a superb bar to a highly decorated recipient in near extremely fine condition.
