Description
Softcover, entitled "Russian and Soviet Military Awards" by V.A. Durov, published by the Treasury of the Order of Lenin State History Museum, illustrating and documenting the history of the various Orders, Service Decorations, Medals, Badges and Collective Military Awards issued by Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union, in full colour, the text in both English and Russian, published in 1990. As described at the beginning of the book: "The Order of Lenin State History Museum is one of the world's biggest depositories of historical relics. Its funds comprise over four million items relating to the country's history - fine collections of old clothing, weaponry, jewellery, woodwork, ceramics, etc. Alongside other relics, the museum boasts an extensive collection of military awards - orders, medals, presentation weapons and honorary regimental colours - of the times of prerevolutionary Russia and of the Soviet period. Russian and Soviet military awards are vivid monuments of the military history of our country, reminding one of the glorious pages of struggle with enemies of the Motherland. This booklet offers a narrative of these awards, of the heroes who were decorated with them and of the events which led to their decoration." Illustrated are embroidered awards, as well as those produced in gold, in silver, in bronze, many of which incorporate enamels, along with documents, banners, swords, along with other memorabilia, highlighted by photographs of paintings of famous Russians and images of soldiers during wartime. The book contains 104 pages of text and crisp, sharp photographs, printed in four colour inks, on a white paper stock, the cover printed in four colour and gold-coloured inks, on a white card stock, all papers bearing a unique repeating wavy pattern, perfect bound, measuring 190 mm (w) x 242 mm (h) x 7 mm (d). It exhibits a crease on the front cover, along with light wear on the spine, however, the pages within remain unaffected. Better than very fine.
