Russia, Imperial. An Order of St. Anne, I Class Star, by Keibel, c.1890

(Орден Святой Анны). Instituted on February 14th, 1735. In silver, an eight point star of smooth rays, the obverse medallion featuring a red enamelled ring with inscription AMAN JUST PIET FID (Amantibus, Justitam, Pietatem, Fidem - To those who love justice, piety, and fidelity), with two angels holding a crown at the top, all surrounded by a ring and an interior red enamelled cross, measures 88 mm (w) x 88.5 mm (h), weighs 45.38 grams, reverse in silver gilt offers a single vertical pin, marked Keibel on the base and the underside of the pin, an 84 mark denoting silver fineness, an assay office mark, enamel chip to the 12 o’clock arm of the cross, dark patina at the tips of the rays, in extremely fine condition.
