Russia, Imperial. An Order of St. Anna, III. Class, in Gold, c. 1900

(Орден Святой Анны). Instituted February 14th, 1735. A Cross Pattée constructed of 14kt Gold with red enameled arms, and with ornamented silver gilt patterns in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a white enameled centerpiece bearing the hand-painted figure of St. Anna, the reverse with a similar white enameled medallion, bearing the hand-painted initials “A.I.P.F.” for the Latin “Anna Imperatoris Petri Filia” (Anna, Emperor Peter’s Daughter), suspended from a raised integral ring and double-looped oval suspension ring for suspension from its ribbon, marked “56” for Gold content on the integral ring, marked with right facing profile on elongated suspension loop, as well as underneath the enamels on the reverse of the top arm (illegible), measuring 35.6 mm (w) x 39.5 mm (l), weighing 8.58 grams inclusive of its ribbon, a well preserved example of fine jeweler quality, in near extremely fine condition.
