Russia, Imperial. A Garrison Troops Centenary Badge, by Genrikh Kan

Constructed of a gilded silver alloy with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a ribbon defaced by Cyrillic characters “М” and “В”, topped by a royal crown, and overlaid by a double-headed Russian imperial eagle wearing a crown flanked by dates “1811-1911”, with its wings bearing the monograms of Tsar Alexander I and Tsar Nicholas II, and with its chest bearing a raised and enameled shield formerly accommodating a monogram, the reverse with a central threaded screwpost retaining an original backplate and nut, the former maker marked “ГЕНРИХЪ” for the firm of Genrikh Kan, measuring 43.15 mm (w) x 61.22 mm (h), weighing 43.4 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of gilt finish throughout the base metal and chipping of the central enameled medallion, in near extremely fine condition.
