Black and white, the obverse illustrating a Russian soldier in uniform from the waist up, large epaulettes on both shoulders, aiguillettes protruding from the right epaulette, travelling down the right breast and finishing at the opening of the tunic, the photograph embossed with the "Bergamasco" studio mark, measuring 97 mm x 136 mm and mounted to an off-white panelled card with a Russian and a British coat-of-arms, along with the "CH. BERGANASCO St PETERSBOURG" photographer's stamp in brown ink below. The reverse has the Bergamasco of St. Petersburg photographer's stamp, with the same Russian and British coat-of-arms, along with images of first class gold and silver medals awarded above, inscribed "Photography of Imperial Theatres", with all text in French, inscribed "Mr. Mylanov" above "1873" in black handwritten ink at the top, 107 mm x 166 mm, extremely fine.

Studio Portrait Photograph of a Veteran of the Turkish War of 1877-1878; Black and white, the obverse illustrating a seated Russian soldier in uniform, vignetted from the mid-chest, large epaulettes on both shoulders, a shoulder strap fed through the epaulette on the right shoulder and angled across the chest to the lower left. He is wearing a medal grouping of five on his right breast, consisting of the Order of St. Anne, the Order of St. Stanislaus, the Medal for the Turkish War of 1877-1878, the Medal for Bravery bearing the bust of Tsar Alexander III and an unidentified medal, the medals mounted to a traditional Russian-style suspension, the photograph measuring 105 mm x 143 mm and mounted to an off-white panelled card with the Smolensk-based photographer's stamp in gold-coloured ink below. The reverse has the Smolensk-based photographer's mark printed in green ink, with an eight line large handwritten inscription overlying the photographer's mark and dated "1870-1900", plus another inscription in pencil along the bottom edge, 110 mm x 165 mm, lightly soiled, better than very fine.
