Russia, Imperia. A Superb Gold Miniature Pairing, c.1870

A finely crafted miniature pairing of orders, featuring two orders mounted on a 36.8 mm wide Gold frame with hand etched bordering, enameled ribbons upon Gold secured by single rivet respectively, presenting;

1. An Order of St. Vladimir. (орден Святого Владимира). Instituted September 22nd, 1782.  A miniature Gold cross with red enameled arms with black borders, centre is a hand painted red-and-ermine Imperial Russian mantle bearing the Cyrillic initials/monogram of St. Vladimir ("CB" for Svyatoy Vladimir), reverse with original blank black centre, measuring 15.77 mm (w); 

2. An Order of Saint Anne. (Орден Святой Анны). Instituted on February 14th, 1735. A red enameled cross upon Gold, with laurel design in each quadrant, delicately hand painted imagery of St.Anne on enamel at obverse centre, reverse blank white enamel centre, measeuing 15.51 mm (w), missing single reverse red enamel arm panel, total weight of 7.2 grams, extremely fine.
