Description
(Ordinul Steaua Republicii Populare Române). Instituted January 1948. Type II. 1964-1965 Issue. A five point star composed of Gold rays with a central silver ray within each cluster, each containing five diamonds, the obverse central medallion features an orange enamel field with a central emblem of the Socialist Republic of Romania, surrounded by a silver ring inlaid with 22 diamonds, a Gold wreath design surrounds the ring, reverse plain, features a horizontal pin and brooch style catch, four rivets, and cutouts in the rays to allow for natural light through the diamonds, measures 62.24mm (w) x 62.95mm (h), weighs 63.4 grams, enamels intact, beautiful construction, better than extremely fine condition.
Contained in it’s original case of issue, consisting of a dark red leatherette exterior, lid stamped “Orindul STEAUA REPUBLICII SOCIALISTE ROMANIA Cl. I”, crème coloured velvet interior, fitted medalbed including ribbon bar indent, measures 87.13mm (w) x 109.88mm (h) x 29.70mm (d), catch does not latch, minor marks of wear to exterior, velvet lining intact, pen mark on interior of lid, overall very fine condition.
